“…DM&E's upgrading of its 317 miles of main line between Wall and the South Dakota-Minnesota border would disturb more than 7,600 acres, but DM&E refuses to allow any landowners east of Wall to join the eminent domain proceeding. DM&E says it has "good relations" with those unsuspecting landowners.
“DM&E's idea of "negotiations" consists of broken promises, trespassing and ultimatums. SB174 rewards that bullying behavior by handing DM&E special privileges that aren't available anywhere else in South Dakota law. Eminent domain is supposed to be a last resort, not a substitute for treating people fairly…” Read the article.
